FLASH: Facilities Assessment & Long Range Plan Discussion Outline Released

The long awaited Facilities Assessment & Long Range Plan Discussion Outline (Outline) was released on March 16, 2012 at a BOE Bussiness/Work Session which began early Friday morning and continued into the afternoon.  DavieFirst’s publication of the Outline was posted Sunday afternoon, March 18, 2012.

The Outline presents three high school choices and recommends the first choice below:

1.  A new high school at a new site.  Cost $53 million plus.  The new high school is part of a long range plan.  It appears it will be necessary to renovate the existing high school:  The Outline does not provide a cost estimate for the “bridge” expenditure at the existing high school in order transition to the new high school.

2.  Continue to expand, replace, and improve the existing high school.  Cost:  $34 million plus.

3.  Construct new high school at the present site.  Cost:  $52 million.

The Outline also recommends renovations and improvements to almost all of the elementary and middle schools.  No costs were provided.
